Plenty of Fish Down - Server Error

August 9th, 2010 - Today morning, it appears that the famous dating website PlentyofFish is down, if you head over to www.plentyoffish.com, the site does not load at all, instead you see a complicated-looking server error message that says "Server Error in '/' Application".

Cannot open database "dating" requested by the login. The login failed.Login failed for user 'sa'.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code."

It seems like a database connection error. Plentyoffish uses Microsoft SQL as the backend database along with ASP.NET. It looks like it's overloaded and down. The owner Markus Frind claims that he has secret in fine tuning his site's performance using the combination of ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL.

Now, the error message has changed to more user friend "Plentyoffish is currently down as a result of multiple system failures and service will be restored later today.".

It's sad because lonely people looking for that special one are now getting rejected by a dating site and being faced with a "down" message. Maybe they should go to plentyoffish clone sites like fish-dating.com or twofishdating.com
