Social Intelligence and its Relevance to Your Business Popping ads while I'm browsing the internet always annoy me. I do hope company owners realize this so that they can work on throwing their social intelligence effort somewhere else. It is not surprising to see so many businesspeople getting into the trend of building a social networking website for their business. This is of course expected as the technology is there and just waiting to be used. However, with all these businesses getting "social" on their advertising endeavours, are they even using some kind of social intelligence strategy to achieve some kind of a social goal?

If you have no idea what social intelligence is, I will give you a little idea. It is but the online practice that some businesspeople do to monitor, gather, and analyze social data like product comments and posts, service issues and many more to produce informed and responsible business decisions.  Some businesspeople though are still doubtful about the relevance of social intelligence to their business. Either they think it is a waste of time – that branding, customer service and business reach are not really that important, or they just don't have the faintest idea on how to make use of the current social technology more so to build a social networking website of their own.

Surely it can be both tedious and costly to keep up with social interactions especially if one wants to monitor everything that is being said about his business online but if a businessman just makes use of the big amount of data effectively, it can be worth his while. Thus, it is important that a businessperson doesn't only monitor, gather and analyze social data but also use all the information he got from his social endeavours and formulate a business strategy that will help his business grow and succeed more. True, knowledge is power and to build a social networking website for your business just to gather this knowledge is a good strategy but one must make sure that he doesn't stop at gathering or understanding the knowledge. He should be able to digest it and apply it appropriately to his business – that is social intelligence.
Well, I don't think those annoying pop-ups and ads are part of social intelligence at all. I just wish these businesspeople can see my point.
