The Tonight Show on ITV discusses the future of
online dating site. It says that by 2011, around 15 million singles will be joining online dating sites in UK alone. This would spur online daing industry's value to more than £1billion.
Due to busier lifestyles and fast-paced lives, singles have lesser times in their hands and are turning to online dating to find love.
In the Tonight Show, three singles were asked to try three methods of dating which consist of : online dating, hiring a personal match-maker and lastly, conventional approach such as visiting bars and doing speed dating.
The three daters reported that the ones they find most effective were online dating and personal match-making. This is because it is easier to get to know their dates ahead of time by simply looking at their online profiles.
Traditional dating often means investing time or scouring the bar scene before making a choice. With online dating, the scouring time and getting to know you part are effectively shortened by the personals.
The downside with match-making is that some agencies charge prohibitive fees. This leaves the online dating sites, which charge minimal fees or no fees at all, to be at the forefront of the current generations' dating lives.
With 15 million singles searching for love in 2011 in the UK alone, it would not be surprising then that online dating sites would be making a killing in that part of the world. This is not counting the US and Canadian singles' audience. If you add the expanding Asian population and the rest of the world, online dating sites seem to be poised to reach unprecedented heights in the coming years.
As long as love never runs out of fashion, online dating sites remain on the scene. Obviously, since we all need love then online dating is probably here to stay.
